Important Travel Update

Coromandel Tours in November

Due to essential rebuild work on State Highway 25A, there will be daytime closures from Monday 10 November to Friday 21 November (8am–5pm, Monday to Saturday).

This will affect access across the Coromandel Peninsula and require us to take a longer detour. During this period, our Coromandel tours will visit Cathedral Cove only, as Hot Water Beach will not be accessible within the available travel time. Guests will still enjoy a fantastic day exploring the Coromandel, with beautiful scenic stops and local highlights included.

Very nice time!

Great day. Our driver, Simon was knowledgeable and accommodating. We had a good time and enjoyed meeting other travelers. Group size was reasonably small (14?).

Super professional, friendly and enjoyable trip to Hobbiton!

Our small group tour to Hobbiton with our very friendly and helpful guide Grant was fantastic from start to finish! We are a couple with two adult sons, all LOTR fans, and it was a massive thrill to see the rolling green hills of The Shire up close and personal! We went the day after landing in Auckland, and loved being able to just relax completely and enjoy the whole experience, while Grant drove and kept us entertained and informed with interesting facts about NZ's geology and history. The whole tour was extremely well-organised and smooth-running, and we enjoyed it immensely. To round things off, after a couple of days, we realised that my son had left something behind on the bus, and the company could not have been more helpful about getting it back to us promptly. Thankyou, Cheeky Kiwi!

Beyond our expectations!

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Hobbiton today! We scheduled this tour many months ago, not really knowing what to expect. It was so much fun! The farmland where Hobbiton was built is absolutely beautiful, and it is not commercialized at all. We really appreciated the rural countryside. Our driver, Michael, was very good! He was very friendly, personable and easy to hear and understand. We appreciated the stops for restrooms and snacks along the route. We would use this company again for small group tours in New Zealand. They are very professionally run, with good, clear communication.

Perfect Day Trip to Hobbiton!

Had a fantastic time on this Hobbiton Set Tour with Cheeky Kiwi Travel! Simon was our Tour Group driver, and he went above and beyond to make the experience an 11/10. I was the last guest picked up at my hotel on our small group tour, and it would have been easy to rush me into the van for departure, but he still took the time and care to introduce himself and chat with me before I got into the shuttle van. Once I was in the van, he introduced each person to the group and asked us all an engaging question. This made it easier for me to connect with others on the tour as a solo traveler. On our drive, he was engaging, and we arrived with plenty of time to have lunch before the tour started. We had a perfect, sunny spring day, so after checking with the group, on our return drive we took a more scenic route back to Auckland, and we even made an unplanned stop for Hokey Pokey ice cream! He also gave lots of dinner recommendations for Auckland. Unfortunately, I got carsick on our drive back (jetlag will do that), and he took the time to check in with me throughout the drive. I don't do many guided excursions when traveling, but I was pleasantly surprised with my day with Simon and wouldn't hesitate to book with Cheeky Kiwi Travel the next time I return to New Zealand.

Incredible time!

Hobbiton was the bucket list trip of my life. Booking through Cheeky Kiwi took all the stress off this experience of a lifetime for me. Ari was the absolute best guide! I loved being her mate and sharing great conversations there and back again!

Absolutely amazing experience, a must do!

Ale was absolutely amazing, he waited every time we were a bit late without so much of a comment! He was entertaining us the entire ride, both ways, and joker around with us. He really made the experience special and I can’t remember having so much fun on a tour!!! Ale, you’re the best!!!
