Our commitment to sustainability

We believe exploring New Zealand shouldn’t cost the earth, so we’re doing our part to protect it.

Why it matters to us

Our promise to Aotearoa

At Cheeky Kiwi, we believe exploring Aotearoa shouldn’t come at the cost of the place we love most. Our adventures are all about connecting people with the real New Zealand, its wild beauty, rich culture, and warm-hearted locals, so protecting it is part of who we are.

From the mountains to Milford, we tread lightly, care deeply, and give back where we roam. Because looking after our backyard isn’t just good business, it’s the Kiwi way.

Supporting Our Communities

Getting behind local conservation projects

The natural wildlife and beauty of Aotearoa is our lifeblood. We’re deeply passionate about the landscapes, sights and wildlife spectacles that we show off on a daily basis.

To do our bit, Cheeky Kiwi Travel has chosen conservations projects to sponsor so we can put our money where our mouth is and get behind worthwhile causes that ensure the beauty that is witnessable today will last for generations to come.

What We’re Actively Doing

Putting Our Care into Action

01.

We Introduce Visitors to Kaitiakitanga

We engage guests with meaningful education about kaitiakitanga (guardianship of nature), offering insights into local ecosystems and cultural respect along the way.

02.

Hands-On Conservation Sponsorships

We back local wildlife and habitat projects, from pest control to native reserve restoration and give each team member a paid day annually to join the effort.

03.

We Continuously Measure Our Impact

We use digital tools and data tracking to accurately measure where our emissions come from, setting a transparent baseline so we can do better.

04.

Waste Minimisation & Recycling Focus

On every tour we apply strict waste-separation practices, promote reusable water bottles, and source eco-friendly products to reduce our contribution to landfill.

05.

We Prioritise Responsible Procurement

Our buying decisions look beyond price, we assess product origin, packaging, ethical manufacture and whether an item is truly necessary. We review this twice a year.

06.

We Use Eco-Friendly Products Wherever Possible

We favour biodegradable, plant-based cleaning supplies and reduce harmful chemicals across our fleet and operations.

07.

We Support Conservation at Ground Level

Our team participates in pest control, wildlife rehabilitation, native bush restoration and local reserve projects — and every staff member receives a paid day each year to get involved.

08.

We Partner with Environmental Organisations

From donations to active fieldwork, we support causes like Save the Kiwi, with 100% of Cheeky Kiwi merchandise profits going directly to conservation.
