Tamatea / Dusky Sound – Resolution Island Trapping Network
Led by the Department of Conservation, this ambitious project aims to transform Resolution Island (part of Dusky Sound) into a predator-free sanctuary. It’s one of New Zealand’s largest and most significant conservation sites, home to endangered birds like the kākāpō and mōhua.

The Valleys Conservation Project
Nestled near the edges of Fiordland National Park, this local project works to restore native forest and support wildlife habitats through pest control, replanting, and community-led monitoring. It’s run by passionate locals and aims to create a thriving ecosystem that brings native birdsong back to the valleys.
